2012 ( C Y A ) Basic Sailing Standard ( The Sailing Licence)
2012 Pricing $595
The most comprehensive program we offer is the Basic Sailing program. It doesn't matter if you have never stepped on a sailboat in your life or are a novice that would like to brush up on thier skills. If you would like to truly "learn how to sail" then this is the program you'll need! Most of your training (approx 75%) will be on-board one of our stable and modern 22 foot sail-training boats. We call this the "Standard" program as you will be training aboard a 22 foot traditionally rigged boat with an outboard engine, and a tiller helm. Just like learning standard in a car it's important to know the basics of smaller keel boat handling. Upon completion of the course you will have The Basic Cruising Standard, a CYA program that is accepted coast to coast, and also internationally. During the program you will learn about weather, chart reading, docking, knot tying, anchoring, emergency maneuvers, and of course sailing skills! All of our instructors have extensive training and experience. Once finished you will be able to take out a 20-26 foot sailboat (with an outboard and a tiller), with crew, in light to moderate conditions and bring her back safely. At Nautical Escapes we are always striving to improve our teaching methods so that you can have the most fun and rewarding experience as possible!
The Nautical Escapes Advantage
Our Basic Sailing course is the only CYA Basic Cruising Standard course, in Ontario, that is offered with up to 35hrs of instruction! We also have integrated our classroom theory with our on-water practical sessons so all learning styles can be covered and we can work with the weather that comes up on the day of your course. Some other schools and organizations will first put you on the boat in any weather, then teach the classroom sessions after you have completed your course, or ONLY teach you classroom theory. To properly train and learn a new skill, we believe you need to have both on-water and classroom training combined with the most hours possible. We also provide free mentoring and guidance to all graduates to help them acheive thier goals.
* Courses fill up fast, book early to avoid missing the boat ! *
INCLUDES: Lessons, use of a PFD, textbook, Basic exam, PCOC test, logbook, and logbook seal.
